Are you ready? This starts on September 30th. Go <a href=\"http:\/\/thebellyfitclub.com\/wordpress\/jumpstart-into-the-holidays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here&nbsp;<\/a>for the official announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">I\u2019ll make it short and sweet. (not sugary sweet) (although sugar is tempting) (no, don\u2019t think about it) (come on, willpower) (you can do it) (where was I?) Right. Drink water.<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Your mother told you to. &nbsp;Dr. Oz says it\u2019s good. Health magazines are always harping on it. Why won\u2019t they just leave you alone?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Usually, I\u2019m the worst at drinking water. Now I\u2019m going to nag you, too? Uh, yeah! Because you\u2019re going to be drinking&nbsp;<em>a lot<\/em>&nbsp;of water. With no sugary soda, no fruit juices, no diet sodas\u2026what on earth will you drink? Yep water. Water will also help you stay fuller longer. This is important because the next tip is\u2026<span id=\"more-6140\"><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">2. Don\u2019t let yourself get hangry.<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Who me? Grumpy, crabby, irritable? Nooo get serious. I\u2019m a sweetheart when I\u2019m starving. You too?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Okay maybe I act a little angry at the world when I\u2019ve starved myself of all of my favorite foods \u2013 but nawww \u2013 don\u2019t be afraid of me even though it may&nbsp;<em>seem<\/em>&nbsp;like I\u2019ll bite your head off for popping a few M&amp;Ms in front of me. No really, come a little closer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Hungry + Angry = Hangry<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Plan meals ahead of time. Yes, this is going to take effort. Yes, it sucks. Yes you can pout about&nbsp;it for 5 minutes and then let\u2019s put our adult boots on and DO THIS. [flex muscles and kiss biceps]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Have plenty of fresh, healthy snacks ready to go. Cut up veggies. Make a homemade dipping sauce. Cut up fruit. Buy hummus. Pack almonds in little containers for work days. Whatever your snack preferences are, get them ready PRIOR to to the start of your work week. If you let hunger strike, you\u2019re more likely to go on a cupcake rage and scream obscenities at innocent bakery workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">3. Eat fruit<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Yeah, I know fruit has a lot of natural sugar and if you can avoid it, great. But for a sweet-tooth like me, fruit saves me. It made me feel like I was getting the sweets I craved. I made a really tasty<a href=\"http:\/\/thebellyfitclub.com\/wordpress\/berries-for-love-\u2661\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> &nbsp;Berry Bowl<\/a> and it put an end to my dessert cravings. Watermelon is great, too. Low calorie, sweet, and still kept me on track.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">4. Make it easier on yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Don\u2019t dangle carrots&nbsp;in your face. (Or more appropriately, carrot cake.) If you\u2019ve got tempting sweets and processed foods in your cupboards \u2013 get rid of them! How?<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Throw them out (my husband would cringe at this one so read on for other ideas)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Box them up, tape the box shut and put them where you won\u2019t see them and save for a later date.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Donate them to a food bank or a neighbor.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Binge eat them until the night before the challenge (This is a bad idea. Don\u2019t listen to me.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">5. Change Your Attitude<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If you find yourself thinking \u201cOh, 1 itty bitty piece of candy isn\u2019t going to hurt,\u201d just go ahead and smack yourself. Go ahead \u2013 I\u2019ll wait. There, there now. [That\u2019s me stroking your hair in comfort. No? I thought we were close friends.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Now here\u2019s why you can\u2019t think like that during the challenge:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You\u2019re breaking an addiction. One teeny weeny piece of candy will only make the rest of the day (and possibly the next day) that much harder for you and your cravings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Remember that, although this can be a lifestyle change for you in the long run, this 28-day challenge (right now) is only an experiment. Having a \u201ccheat\u201d won\u2019t help you see the benefits of the experiment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">If you haven\u2019t seen the movie&nbsp;<a title=\"Fed Up\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B00L5R5GE2\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B00L5R5GE2&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=thekitsno-20&amp;linkId=MH3IBZZADC6HPROU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fed Up<\/a>&nbsp;that prompted this 28-day sugar detox, you should. It\u2019s shocking and will give you the kick in the tight pants you probably need.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">6. Connect<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You\u2019ll be more successful if everyone in your household is doing the challenge. If your spouse isn\u2019t doing it with you, maybe a neighbor, coworker, or friend can join you. Yet&nbsp;don\u2019t forget, you have me! We have each other. It will give hope to the rest of us who are convulsing in the corner with withdrawal symptoms. I\u2019m kidding. It\u2019s not that bad.
